The Korean beauty trend "mul-gwang" – having a dewy complexion looks gorgeous
Direct from Asia, this trend says throw away those blotting papers and long live shiny chic.
Have you spent years chasing away the slightest sign of sheen on your face? Stop dead in your tracks, matte skin is becoming so yesterday.
The latest fashionista trend in 2016 is sporting the so-called “mul-gwang” complexion on the streets and the runways alike.
There are lots of translations for the new look, like “post-gym skin,” “nightclub skin” and “dewy skin”. It might be about looking like you just stepped out of a sweaty gym class or steamy disco, but we prefer calling it “dewy”, as if you’re covered in a fresh morning mist. It just sounds so much more chic.
Nothing could be easier than donning this nude wet look – and no need to work out, go dancing or wait outside for the crack of dawn. Moisturize skin well and apply a light pearly base with a champagne or ivory tint. Alternatively, you can use a few drops of vegetable oil.
Next, thank your powder puff for its fine and loyal service and bid it farewell. Then grab an illuminating liquid foundation.
Fight the impulse to mattify everything. Tie your hands together if you have to, but not behind your back because you’ll need them for the next step: apply some small dashes of illuminator (pearly, if possible) on the highest peaks of the face (brow bone, top of the cheeks, bridge of the nose) and blend in by gently patting with your fingertips.
Smile, you’re all wet. Not to mention gorgeous.
