Catching the rays on terraces and rooftops in Paris

Pop-ups, permanent fixtures, romantic and arty spots: our list of the best bars and restaurants in Paris for soaking up some sun.

Le Bistrot des Dames

For over 200 years, the smallest 5-star hotel in Paris has been tucked away just a few steps from Place de Clichy. This is where the very essence of French flair crosses paths with the ghost of Oscar Wilde, who lived here until his death. Its crowning jewel lies just beyond the first hallway, a veranda and sumptuous patio garden where you can enjoy a drink, lunch or dinner. The menu features completely homemade seasonal French cuisine with some delightful Spanish and Asian influences and a list of wines brought in right from the vineyards.

Le Nouveau Perchoir

After stints in Ménilmontant and the Marais, Le Perchoir has found a new home right above Gare de l’Est.
Amid flowering archways and the legendary Fermob furniture from the Jardin du Luxembourg, rooftop aficionados can soak in the view by sitting at one of the large wooden tables sipping a cocktail and relishing some of Hugo Desnoyer’s upscale kebabs.

Until mid-October

La Terrasse Taishō

This spring, the Paris Aquarium opened a new terrace on the rotunda. Like a trip back in time to the other side of the world, La Terrasse Taishō takes you straight to 1920s Japan. Lobster ravioli, Teppanyaki kebabs, bean sprout salad drizzled with sesame oil… and it all comes with the sake the head sommelier recommends as you marvel at the breathtaking view of the Eiffel Tower.
Until September.

Dans un Coin de Jardin…

Do you dream of experiencing the best outdoor summer spots without feeling like you’re in a sardine can? Don’t miss the grand opening of Dans un Coin de Jardin… (At the Garden Patch…). More than just another outdoor space, this is a summertime event on the 300 m2 terrace of Les Petites Gouttes bistro. To mark the occasion, they have installed a stage, a pop-up bar and dozens of palm and olive trees. Highlights include delicious cocktails, sun-kissed tapas and healthy skillet fajitas, not to mention activities like Pilates classes, a book nook, massages, jazz concerts and old-fashioned dances. This garden patch is more like a slice of heaven…

Le Patio Opéra

The 7th Art goes gourmet thanks to film producer Valérie Saas-Lovichi, who has used her artistic license to transform this sanctum of gastronomy and creative expression located right next to the Opéra Garnier and the major Paris department stores. The inner open-air courtyard whisks you away from the bustling city and is like being teleported to Italy. And the magic doesn’t stop there: the menu is all about the most delicious seasonal fare from Corsica and Italy. Check out Le Patio’s gourmet happy hour from 6:30 PM every day (except Sunday).

5 rue Meyerbeer, 75009 Paris
